The association acknowledges the significance of the office of the Secretary-General and contemplates that the office bearer may be committed to other private issues, thus missing important meetings. therefore, in the absence of the Secretary-General, the assistant secretary-general shall perform all the duties of the Secretary-General and such other duties as shall be assigned to her by the Secretary-General. Additionally, the assistant secretary-general shall act as the secretary of the welfare in the absence, dormancy, or inactive status of the secretary-general. Currently, this post is held by Faith Awino Onyango

Jamie Buchanan-Dunlop is an experienced educator creating new ways for children to learn about their changing world. He has worked both inside and outside the classroom, with expeditionary education programmes seeing him work in both polar regions and plenty of places in between. Jamie founded Digital Explorer, a social enterprise education agency focusing on global citizenship and STEM education. Through Digital Explorer, he has developed the use of technology for schools and students to engage directly in global issues and working with Common Seas has co-created the Ocean Plastics Academy offer.
