Mr. Ezra Onyango


Mr. Ezra Onyango is skilled in policy analysis, advocacy, and lobbying at both local and international levels with a high amplitude for working in remote areas. I am also experienced in interacting with multiple stakeholders including local communities, government institutions, the private sector, and multinational organizations. I have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.

Ezra has interests in undertaking environmental research, innovation, community outreach, awareness creation, training, advocacy, and lobbying for development issues by practicing transparency, accountability, honesty, and a high level of integrity while upholding tenets of professionalism.

At N.E.W.A, he is responsible for reviewing the performance of the association, carrying out regular monitoring and evaluation on the progress of the welfare, and guiding the association in meeting its goals and objectives. EZRA also draws the strategic plan, oversees the implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of the association's projects.


Ezra also coordinates events and activities that have been duly sanctioned by the Executive Committee. He also organizes and procures venues for meetings and events and activities. In conjunction with the Chairman and Secretary-General, Ezra draws the association’s annual program of activities and performs duties as delegated to him by the Executive Committee.  

Ezra lives and breathes Welfare with over 10 years’ experience spearheading welfare projects and programs in different capacities. He has overseen numerous global welfare programs and social assistance ventures. He focuses on identifying critical social welfare issues and aligning senior experts with engineering solutions to help local communities achieve economic empowerment and sustainable development. He is a volunteer with N.E.W.A and brings a wealth of experience from Ocean Conservancy where he serves as Kenya's representative for the International Coastal Cleanup Program

Career highlights include leading The Ocean Conservancy's, International Coastal Clean-up Program which mobilizes volunteers to participate in an annual cleanup program. He has also seen the implementation of the W.S.C.S.D waste management program that secured the Kenyan Government’s commitment to delivering the Blue Belt. Ezra is the brainchild behind the design and building of the Msambweni Community Waste Recycling Plant, a 60-foot catamaran made out of reclaimed plastic bottles which she skippered across the Indian Ocean. As the project officer in charge of evaluation and monitoring at W.S.C.S.D, Ezra successfully campaigned for the inclusion of marine-related topics in the National Secondary School Curriculum. Currently, Ezra is leading a lobbying and advocacy program that is seeking to establish a working collaboration with various stakeholders to drive organizations across the plastics value chain to deliver a circular economy.

Ezra's volunteer work has been featured by the BBC, National Geographic, Vogue, Time, and TEDx. He was awarded the Master Environmental Award in 2004 and The most social media influencer among youths in Msambweni in 2020. Ezra holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science (JKUAT), BSC. Plant Ecology and Environmental Science (JKUAT), Diploma in Business Management specializing in the management of NGOs (KIM), and a CPA 4 certification (KCA).
