Message from the Chairperson, NEWA

For the 1st AGM held on 13th, 14th, and 15th June 2021

Thank you all for coming to this meeting, I take this opportunity to welcome every person who has attended this meeting... you're all aware this is the first meeting (AGM) we are holding under our constitution which known to be NEWA (Nyikwa Ezra Association Welfare) as you're all aware we have come far and this marks the first year of our operation. 

As we continue into our operations I wish to confirm to you we have been able to take you through the year with different individuals known as executive officers 

Including; My vice-chair, sister Olga, we have our able secretary, Don Okeyo, we have the treasurer Jabes Omondi, we have our web admin Ezra Onyango, And The internal auditor which is Olive Achieng'

So far so good it's been a smooth rule unless otherwise 

The meeting of today which is the AGM we had already posted what to be covered the agenda of today which known to you and was posted within the website I encourage every person to debate soberly, give us green highlights on whatever he has seen which might make the group continue; the bad things, the good things and all the proposals that you see that may make us or make the group continue in the new future.

Just to give a brief highlight on what we had gone through is that we initiated the group so far, there are some points that we highlighted  during the inception stage and this was the registrations of the group that's yet to be done, the membership according to our constitution each member you know very well was supposed to Register 

We were supposed to give monthly contributions; these are things that have not taken place. as much as members have Registered some the monthly contributions as per contribution as per constitution has never kicked off 

I urge that we look into this and we start giving Monthly contributions to enable our operations to continue

As we continue forward with. Our group I would wish that at the end of AGM we look for the prose and cones into our constitutions if there are any amendments that we need to look into we need to put them in place as the constitution details it should be a progressive one 

So when we find a place where we need some amendments, it's the members who should do that and this should be done during the AGM 

About the officials, if you have seen one or the other person working well it's your duty to make him continue or change him ...coz all organizations what matters is about the leadership, it's the members to select proper leaders who should take them from one level to the other 

So it's the duty and it's the duty which is upon every person to elect a leader who should take him from one level to the other and those are the reasons we are gathered today so that we highlight;

What we have gone through, Where we are going and, What we really need to achieve

So far so good we are still in the progress of growing...we are not yet where we need to reach and with your support, with the support of every person, we hope that this group shall come and whatever that we place as objectives shall be realized only if each individual is committed to the group or each position if he's elected to make this group move forward with the zeal and vigor that it deserves.

The group's status is that, so far up to now, the group has the name known to every person as Nyikwa Ezra welfare association known as NEWA. It's a group that operates but is not registered within the government. I'll urge that we discuss this as an agenda so that we know the way forward

So far up to now, we don't have a certificate and it's not a registered, group. It's only known by us that we have a group but I could advise that after this we make ways on which we can register our group. We have memberships as you know we have four types of membership.

We have Active members, we have quasi members, and such kinds of memberships are there. We little members who have Registered and those are the active ones after this the financial report has already been shown we have seen about the status of membership I'd encourage after this, towards the end of this AGM we discuss the membership and the way forward about membership 

Activities during our operations we engage in various activities, it's the proposals as the constitution says we engage in different activities including support group; farming, etc 

Majorly the welfare as the name also suggests about the welfare that we have been assisting our different members during times of difficulties as the statement elaborates

Various activities that we have been going through already shown within the financial report 

I encourage members that let every person as we move forward make sure that this kind of participation members usually engage in please make sure that you're one of them

Closing Remarks

Thank you very much, members;

First and foremost, I'd like to register my apology for being absent during the final day of the AGM. was held, have been traveling from Migori and am about to reach my house in Nairobi

I have, have an opportunity to go through the minutes of the elections ...I have to congratulate every person for his Time and participation during this AGM ... receive my sincere congratulation on behalf of the NEWA fraternity

We have come to the end of our AGM and we'd like to encourage or I'd like personally to thank every person who had participated in this election ...I also take this opportunity to welcome every official who has got the opportunity to be elected to serve NEWA in this executive committee. I hope each member elected knows His role and is capable and that's why members have seen him or her take such kind of roles. ...I wish them well during their tenure in the office.

Personally, I welcome brother Neville Ouko for being elected as the NEWA new treasurer 

I also wish to welcome brother Jabes Omondi for being elected as the new Organizing Secretary 

And also wish to bring one new member; the assistant Patron mama Meresa Achieng’ Ouma to join this movement of NEWA FAMILY ... please those who are concerned take my sincere welcoming to the group. She feels free and shares much of NEWA'S Vision and missions.

To this end, I call upon the secretary to document all the proceedings within the AGM so that the next meeting ...when we meet for the next meeting it is read and be put again to members...we shall communicate when to conduct the next meeting and remember there's one agenda which was not passed.

We shall allow the new treasurer to come up with the budget estimate proportion of the Year and bring the same in the next meeting so that members can debate on it and probably pass the budget estimate for the group to continue with its operations

To that end, I wish to confirm (I wish to close) the meeting and say that this will be the end of our AGM ...if anybody never got a chance to present himself during this AGM he can do that by contacting any of the officials who shall also give his or her information to the executive 

Sister Quinter Singa, the vice-chairperson feels much welcome to NEWA ... remember, you'll be conducting various meetings, giving directions, and being the head I know the task that awaits you .... congratulations on being elected as the NEWA vice-chairperson
